General product information

Ritver Wood Stain is a universal composition for water based and solvent based coatings and originate from special resins with carefully selected pigments which are light fast and durable. They are binder free and yet produce brilliant and transparent colours with intense hues. The versatility of the stains is evident for its comfortable use in for simple products like moldings, turned and formed objects and skitting boards, cupboard doors, furniture assembling and chairs. The support used can be either solid or veneered.

Area of Use: Recommended for transparent coatings for wood work.

Spread Rate:
While the spread rate is directly dependant on the surface profile and also the type of undulations it has, as a thumb rule Ritver Wood Stain would cover 13 to 15 sq. meters per lit.
Drying Time (30 C) : Set to touch: 30 min.
: Ready for Recoat: 1 2 hours
: Hard dry (hours) 3 4 hours.
# drying times are only guidelines and is largely dependant on the type of application and thickness.
Recommended DFT : 15- 20 microns / per coat.




A good surface preparation and following the method statement / recommended system procedure of Ritver is an ideal recommendation for the application of Ritver Wood Stain.

For wood:

Achieve a good and clean surface by removing all contaminants by dry cleaning & drying. Use sanding paper depending on the surface roughness as 120/150 grain.

Exclusions for successful application include perpetually wet surfaces and also large cavities on wooden surfaces.





Adequate ventilation is an ideal situation as it helps in drying and the good application itself. Avoid high humid conditions i.e., 95% when condensation is likely to interfere and also when the surface temperature is at least 3c above dew point.

Application: One can apply the product either with curtain coater or with spray gun. To be done by Airless spray 3-4 kg/cm2 (1500-2000 psi). Nozzle size: 1.8 to 2.0 mm or conventional spray at 50 60 psi. give good importance to inter coating intervals.
In case of hand application dip in the corresponding stain with a suitable tool, like brush, rag and apply uniformly and wipe of the excess runs.
One can add maximum 15% of water or Acetone or mix of both for ease of application depending on the suitability of application or the material to be applied like shape and size.
The universal stain colour can be varnished with clear coat of PU or NC products. In case of polyester based paints it can be use applied after a suitable sealant is applied.
Caution: Over diluting would result in a sag and run downs.
